I had a cheap one, but more potato came up the sides than came out the bottom, so I've thrown it away.

I'd like to get another one (a decent one), as I think riced potato works better than just mashed for cottage/shepherd's pie etc.

Are there any decent potato ricers out there? Many thanks in advance :)

I have this one. Bought it a couple of weeks ago and must confess I haven't got around to using it yet. It seems very sturdy though. Not a bit plasticky for a plastic item :)

I bought a stainless steel one from M & S a couple of years ago and it is now one of my indispensable kitchen gadgets. Just had a look on their website but they only seem to have a small version of the same one there. Dunno if the shops still stock the bigger ones.

Best gadget I ever got. Makes such a huge difference. Wouldn't be without one know. I guess I was lucky got a cheaply one and it's great.

Most of the metal ones have their faults. Usually that's in the form of handles which are really uncomfortable (especially designs like the Masterclass) but it could equally be a poorly-fitting or badly-made 'plunger' (I'm talking about you, Kitchen Craft) or plates which buckle and rust.

I reckon that the Kuhn Rikon ricer is the best one on the market, but if you want really amazing mash then I'd advise you to invest in something like this.
