ID Software - Odd Video Stutter

A little odd here, I have a C2D 4300 @ 3.0 GHz and am using a BFG 8800 GTS 320MB, 2GB ram and GA-965P-DS3 mobo.

Problem is in ID software games, when there is a video scene there is a very quick stutter (not sound) every 1 second. Games are at latest patches, and drivers for GPU are up to date. FPS avg in game for Quake 4 is 60 FPS (not tested in Doom 3 yet but the video stutter happens here too). Video outside of these games is fine for movies and other games.

Any help guys?

I believe I know what you mean. Right at the beginning of Doom 3 in the first video around where Dr Butruger says "See that counsellor Swan is sent directly to me" I get a little video stutter. I've just accepted it really. Not really a big deal. I tried turning VSync on, which doesnt help.

My spec is QX6700, 8800GTX, 2GB RAM and Abit IN9 32X-MAX motherboard. I had this stutter on my old system too (3.0GHz P4, 6800 GT, 1GB RAM)

I can only assume its a problem with the engine.

Thanks for the replies.

Do you get it in every video evey one second (not random, follows a "beat" if you like... and only video, not sound)?

I am using Windows XP Home (of course). With the amount of indexing in Vista, I am supprised games on the same HDD play. I remember toying around with games in Vista. Great apart from Battlefield 2 with indexing on, fly a jet, millisecond stutter, boom!

Anyhow, back to the point at hand. Have any others had this problem?
