IDE + HDD + Optical?

ok i have Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R mobo, and i want to put in a 90gbIDE HDD and i also have an IDE optical drive, i've tried to make them work together, but when i put them both in on the same IDE ribbon, the pc ignores both, but i can use 1 without the other. is there any way i can get both of them to work together off of 1 IDE?

You know about master and slave jumpers?

yup, optical is set to master and HDD set to slave. i'm very confused :confused:

Same way you set one to master and one too slave, on the drive somewhere it should show the jumper config for cable select or CS

I remember a thing where sometimes the master drive had to be on a certain plug on the ribbon

master should the on the last plug on the cable i believe
