My mobo only has 2 sata connections, both used for HDD, bought a new 1tb HDD today to replace my 120Gb, but wanted to keep the 120Gb connected too. I saw on the bay of e a convertor to turn your IDE port to a sata one for about £4, so I could have all 3 drives in.

Has anyone used one of these? know if they work or not? Im not fussed about performance and speed its only going to be used to store old photos and stuff so doesnt need to be lightning fast.

thanks in advance for any advice, appreciate it :)

EDIT : one of these

I think they should work (Abit used to supply one that worked from SATA controller to IDE), however it might be a better bet to buy an SATA PCI card (I think they start at about a tenner) which will give you 2-4 sata connections.

ok cheers guys for £4 i might give it a blast and if it dont work its no big loss and will grab a pci card

thanks for the quick replies

well I got one and went to install it, turns out I only have 1 ide slot which is running my DVD writer so got no where to plug it in lol, did take the writer out to test it and the convertor works but I cant live with out my writer.

so have ordered a 3 port sata PCI card after all :D

Just thought id let you know it worked incase anyone is thinking of buying one :)
