Ram speed really doesn't affect gaming performance very much. Some games do benefit from better ram speeds but not by a significant amount. You'd be better off spending your money on a better gpu than higher speed ram.
I try to aim for the lowest CAS I can get , but as said above , nowadays , with ram so fast , a few less `ticks` isn't as noticeable as when cas 2 was a leap ahead of cas 3 ram!
Memory speed has little effect on gaming performance these days, get the cheapest that has the look your after.
The cheapest 3000Mhz kit is cheaper than the cheaper than the cheapest 2666Mhz kit, I know where my money would go. Just depends on what colour fits in your scheme.
