Need some advice on efficient RPM ranges to be in.
Been traveling to work and back for a couple of days now on my ybr 2014.
Traveling between 30-50mph I've been keeping the RPM's at max around the 5 mark, and just letting them reduce to around 3-4 when I need to slow down a little, basically staying on 1 gear all the way there, unless I have to stop or slow down allot.
What should I be trying to keep to for maximum mileage/fuel efficiency?

It's a 125 - part of the fun is thrashing it everywhere! In reality it won't make a lot of difference. Just try not to let the engine labour under too high a load.

I did quite a few journeys 2 hour journeys at 11k on my Varadero 125, had no issues and really didn't notice the difference filling it up either!

Personally, for super fuel efficiency, I'd get in the highest gear possible before the engine "grumbles" when starting to accelerate.

This, if it's not tickling the red line you're not riding it hard enough :D
I normally seem to cruise around at 6-7k that's just naturally where the bike seems happiest this is on a 10 plate ybr.

Also these things are so fuel efficient it makes next to no difference anyway it's cost me about £30 to do 600ish miles.

Redline. Everywhere.

:D

The varadero has no power at all under 5-6k revs, it's all 7k and upwards. Every gear (apart from first), 10-11k revs, 80mpg no problem.

whatever your comfortable with imo,no need to thrape it all the time

2strokes like to be ridden hard, four strokes you can cruise more easily on

Highest gear you can get away with but still be able to respond to a bit of throttle if needed - gives you more options if something unexpected happens in front of you.

Pretty sure this is the sort of advice you'd get for safety considerations instead of trying to save the planet ;)

The last 125 I owned spent pretty much all it's life being revved to the red line.

But at the time avgas was nice and cheap ;)

My cagiva mito gets thrashed everywhere lol.

The powerband and sound of a pinned 2 stroke is the best, I love my 2 stroke :D

Having got my full license at the start of this year, I can confirm that riding at absolute 100% throttle and max revs everywhere doing just 65-70mph is absolutely brilliant fun. When it costs about £7 to fill up and you can do 100-150 miles on a tank (in my case) who cares about fuel efficiency :)

So, rag the **** out of it, hit the redline in every gear and have some of the best fun ever :P

yeah that's true, but I couldn't reach the redline in first or other gears either,i could if I really ragged it,which I didn't do

the big end or little end went after 24k anyway and a £300 engine rebuild bill, but it was a two stroke, four strokes can take more punishment
