Both myself & my wife are after new phones (I'm on a P20 Pro, she's on a P30 Pro). Around the £400 (each) mark seems reasonable to spend, but we're not sure what to go for, any suggestions?

We're not gamers on them, so this doesn't matter
Need a decent camera (got a little one, so quick snaps are a must & the main reason my wife wants to get rid of the P30 Pro).
Around a similar size to the P20 Pro/P30 Pro, we're not a fan of the almost tablet phones
Android only
We're open to refurbs etc if they're decent & gets us something a lot better and/or a lot cheaper.

Earlier this year I switched from Samsung to Google. Picked up a Pixel 8 for about £450 on sale.
I love it for avoiding all the Samsung bloatware, the phone itself is fine, apparently the camera is good but not what I bought it for, and 7 years of security updates makes it a phone I can keep for a long time.
So that's an option to consider, there's a Pixel 9 now, you'd just have to wait for a sale, don't pay full price there are sales regularly.

I've been tempted by the current offers on the S24, as it can be had for ~£400 (as samsung have £200 cashback on it), but the samsung bloat is one of the main things putting me off. My last samsung was an S3, and my Wife had an S8, since then we've both had other brands. They weren't great for bloat from then & from what I've read, it's pretty much only got worse.

A Pixel8/9 at that sort of price would probably be ideal tbh, I just need to keep an eye out for a decent offer on them.

Pixel 8 and 8a (pixel a with pixel a earbuds) have both been available for ~£230 in the last few weeks. Keep a look on Hot UK Deals, any phone deal is inevitably posted there.
