Ideas for accounts software for a growing client

A client of mine is fast outgrowing their Sage 50 Accounts capacity, having generated just under 80,000 invoices in the last 3 months alone, and with 6 or 7 simultaneous users is starting to notice lots of corruption and slowdowns.
It's not down to antivirus any longer because when I came on board I put in a new solution with every Sage data/program exclusion thinkable - brought reporting times down from 8-9 minutes to about 10 seconds. Hardware and network links are more than adequate also, and Sage themselves agree that this company has outgrown Line50.

I was just wondering how many of you work with accounting software for companies putting this amount of transactions through a system, and what systems could you recommend for me to check out?

They also use Actinic and would like a system that would bulk-import all invoices that day from Actinic and create invoices automatically - currently this is done manually which is seriously time-consuming. From what I have been told, Actinic can export such data as XML but haven't looked into it in much detail.

They have someone visiting them soon regarding a Sage 200 solution - any thoughts on this would be welcomed too.

i use an online system called kashflow which lets us log on from different locations and manage our finances (and orders)

we dont do any where near that volume, but might be worth calling them and having a chat to see if there solution is suitable for you

If you're looking at Sage 200 I'd probably look at Dynamics NAV (working for a reseller I would say that though). It does provide nice intergration with other MS products and is very customisable, importing orders from an XML file certainly would be no big issue at all.

I'd probably look at what else they could use apart from the accountancy side of things though, in the future might they need to be able to handle manufacturing warehousing etc?

Bigger, fatter Sage or NAV, as the man said. Those are the safe choices.

NAV is awesome for integration to other MS products, and in fact does a hell of a lot more than just your finances, if you need it to.

Thanks for this guys. Very impressed by Dynamics after a couple of hours of research and looking at various ways people have implemented it. sidethink - do you use Dynamics on a daily basis and/or have experience in implementing it? (I see you're based in Belfast too)

I used to work for a local Accounts software integrator who over the years have supplied Sage, Pegasus Opera and latterly NAV.

I can put you in touch with folks from a few different local integrators for demos/discussions if you like.

I would pre-warn you though that the step up from Line 50 can be fairly big in terms of investment, but ultimately will depend on what features you need and how big your operation is (in terms of licensing and so on).

Nothing to be lost by talking to a few experts and getting some pricing and demos done.

My email is in trust if you need it.
