Wallpaper is stripped and need to choose a plasterer from the recomended ones who have given good quotes but still not 100% how to deal with this corner

Boxed bit is the headroom for the stairs so can't get rid. I want to hide it but aren't 100% sure how. Wardrobe/storage space makes most sense

Guess I'm looking for opinions/ideas or to see if anyone has hidden a similar area and how

Cant you extend it to the wall but put a small cupboard underneath the right hand side. You'd then have a cupboard and a table top for something else.

That corner is pretty dead anyway as it is now.

How deep is it? I assume around 3 ft? As Rob mentioned a cupboard on the right to the height of the left, then a set of shelves on the wall behind.

Or if it's the right height get a bit of kitchen counter (butchers block for example) and build in a nice table for a computer, and have the shelves above.

Quite common in a lot of ex council houses etc, a friend of mine has one and built quite a nice single bed for his daughter over the top of it incorporating shelves and a little ladder to climb up on.

Depends whether it was a front room or a bedroom for me. I quite like the idea of a shelf following the profile of the gap. So from block to ceiling, dropping right to the floor to other wall and back up to the ceiling, like a Tetris block.

Then sort of have storage squares in it for DVDs and the like maybe a little home server, router etc.

Reminds me of a friends old student house. The triangular void was where *valuables* were kept :D

What is the room used for ? If you don't need the various storage ideas above then another possibility is just put a good chair in the dead corner and use it as a chill out area. The flat surface should take a hifi and headphones, beer fridge, bookcase / shelves or whatever else you do to relax.

It's a bedroom

The shelf is bigger than the photo makes it look at 3 ft deep and 3.5 wide. But nearly 4ft high which makes it a bit useless . The open space is 4.5 ft wide

Guess they didn't care about this sorta thing 140 years ago.

A deep wardrobe would easily cover the right hand side but then over the shelf is sort of just wasted
.

How about extending out the shelf across the gap to create a desk in the corner. The existing shelf could have move shelves places above it for books and would be a good height for a printer.

I have one in my little boy's room (not quote as high as OP's fortunately), at present it's piled high with shelves and toys but I'm really liking the idea of building a bed over it, would make a good use of the space and free up for storage the only other area that can really take a bed nicely.

Don't suppose anyone has any pictures of such a bed?
