Idea's for gaming lappy?

I am looking for a moderate spec gaming laptop as I have no room for a desktop setup.
15.6" 1080p screen is fine.
I7 6700hq cpu as a minimum.
Must be upgradeable in terms of HDD-SSD and RAM.
Would like a DVD-ROM, even if external.
GPU-wise, I am thinking gtx 970m. I want to be reasonably set up for gta v and newer.

I am not at all brand-obsessed. Budget -£1000/1100

Looking for suggestions from you folk who poke around the internet looking in detail at these things.

What other features should I be concerned about? Thanks.

Thunderbolt 3 should be a requirement now for expensive notebooks. Your cpu will last for years, gpu not so much.

TB3 will give you the ability to "future proof" with an external gpu.
