Hello guys. My friend just been giving some cash and he wants some new parts. Basically all the major parts.

Hes comming from an old p4 2 gig ram set up.

Been looking at the amd processors and am3 boards.

But with the board at least getting a little confused.

Looking at this processor http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-238-AM

So if any of you can reccomend a board and memory around this that would be ace.

Also i have not installed a processor in some time. Would you say a novice can do this?

Also he has a newish powersupply it aint the best make but he think its around 500watt 600 watt. Guessing this is fine for the set up ?
Max spend probley £270

Hi gooseuk,

can you confirm all the parts you need please?

CPU, Motherboard, Memory, Graphics Card? or is onboard graphics ok? (does he game etc?)

Hi gooseuk,

A little money goes a long way if you shop wisely, AMD are offering some super kit for a price that won't break the bank

First up is a simple AMD Regor Dual Core running at 2.8GHz standard with scope for overclocking in the superb new AMD 785G motherboard backed up with a 4GB set of GSKILL DDR3 . . .

Adding another £60 to the option above gets you a slightly better processor and slightly better RAM. The AMD 550 Dual Core running at 3.1GHz standard speed with the full 6MB level 3 cache has been *unlocking* into a full fat AMD quad core for a few lucky people . . .

There really isn't much need to spend more than either of the two specs above, if something in the spec isn't quite right it can be jiggled for something more suitable . . .

I made a PC for a neighbour out of the mobo and CPU in the first spec by Wayne, it is pretty quick and it is flawless in all that it has to do. A good budget PC.

Just had a bit further look into the board and that seems about the right one.

Seen the v version with twin sli probley go for this if its in stock within the next few days.

The brand of psu in unknown as hes not that good with pc parts.

Regarding fitting processors i done it a few times in the past. But i am a bit of an orc when it comes to fiddley bits.

Would you say its simple enough to install them ?

Yes it's easy to install the CPU, just take one moment to make sure the chip is the right way round and it just drops into the socket . . .

His card is pcie defo i installed that for him last year. 9600gt which acts up a little bit in my pc when i had it installed.

Maybe in a few months he will get the 5770 ati.

When you fit the CPU remember not to use ANY force, if it is lined up properly with the holes it will just litterally drop into the socket on its own with no force whatsoever.

Just orderd these
