Identical fingerprints on both hands?

After setting up my iPads touchID, I can open it using the forefinger of both my hands. I've only gone through the setup once and have only one fingerprint saved.

Until I did it in front of a colleague today, I thought this was normal.

Is anyone else able to do this? I can't find many references to it - other than Yahoo answers.

Dactyloscopy, apparently according to wikipedia no two finger or palm prints are ever exactly alike in every detail.

I guess it does depends how accurate the touchID sensor resolution is.

Not very good if it thinks his 2 fingers have the same print.

Not very - I can open my wifes school iPad with my middle left finger.
