Just put an "x2 3800" into my 939 rig, but i think it is a regular 3800 :p

It is one I just purchased from OCUK.

I cleared the bios, loaded optimized defaults, and it has defaulted to 2.4GHz, 200x12..

How can I be absolutely sure I've been sent the wrong cpu?

Device manager says ACPI uniprocessor pc.

Task manager shows only 1 core.

does the code on the chip heatspreader offer any clues?

Thanks

Okay, thanks, bummer..

Lol, they don't even sell 3800 single cores, I wonder if they've been shipped to OCUK in error.

Yep.. It couldn't find anything to update. I downloaded drivers from AMD also. Dual core optimizer also.

use that to force the HAL to multiprocessor, weird how it goes to 2.4 ghz though.

did that, shows multiprocessor in Device manager now.
but CPU-Z still shows single.

Processor 1 (ID = 0)

Hi, It is the latest as far as I can tell, I've just double checked on DFI website. 04/06/2006 DFI LANParty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert

Well I'm posting this from the latest knoppix linux live cd, it says nothing about dual core in the system properties for the processor, just 3800+ 2.4GHz 512kb cache.

Bios is the latest, and does support x2 processors.

I have a MSI neo2 939 mobo, but no AGP gfx card.

I have no other dual core processors to try.

I've just done a fresh windows install on another disk. no different.

RMA time, 2nd this week :o just rma'd an optical drive.

sorry, no the ADA number.. Anyway I've requested an RMA and stuck my 3700 back in. nice cold day for o'clocking as well

I ended up buying another one elsewhere, it works as expected, no issues. So somehow I originally got a single instead of a dual..aah well, such is life.
