Just looks like an S-video to me.

Although it does look slightly different i cant think of any other cable. Is it to connect it to another device that the tv uses?

Why not provide us with the model of the tv so we can look it up?

It is similar to an S-video but different. The four holes are actually parallel to each other rather than how they are on the S-video input.

The connector is to connect the actual power to the tv.

Am i right in saying that you have the cable coming from this s-video like socket, then into a power block, then the power block has another cable running to the UK Plug socket?

Yes mate similar to how laptop power packs be.

it looks like a 4pin mini DIN, but with a proprietry key which could make it tricky to track down an exact replacement.

looking at a high street electronics shop's website (google), they have something similar, but not wuite the same.
