This has been bugging me for a while. The only scene I remember is the denouement with the hero facing down the bad guy in a chapel when monks file in, only for the monks to throw off their robes and reveal themselves to be knights after a while and then the King (?) appears. I saw it well over 40 years ago. It was black & white, though that long ago the TV may have been B&W. And I saw it in France or Belgium and it was in French, though I'm not sure if it was dubbed into French or an actual French film.
