I have had this plant since I moved into my house (nearly 6 years ago):

I am unsure what plant it is (no labels) if someone can help me out? The big trunk has died due to overwatering about 18 months ago but the smaller trunk had pulled through and was thriving.

I came home just now to find one of the branches leaning right over which I assume is due to the weight of the leaves. I have tied the branch up to stop it snapping but what can I do with this? Can I prune it back and get a new plant from the bit I cut off or is the thing done for?

I would hate to get rid of this thing as its survived for so long :(

HELP!

Cheers... so how do I help this one? One of the branches has suddenly dropped right over. This appears to be due to the weight of the foliage.

Can I cut this back or will this wreck the plant?

I know about the general care of the plant and of the removing of any dead/dieing leaves but I cant seem to find much info on what to do if one of the stalks bends about halfway up (the stalk being the bit that grows out of the trunk)....

I have stuck a cane in beside it and used some gardeners string to tie it up a bit for support. The stem is not broken or creased, just being right over.

The issue, I think, is that the stems are quite long now so they are top heavy making them bend over. Not sure what to do. Might need someone with experience of them for advice. Currently its loking like I need to lop the top off just below the bend.

I need to re-pot mine. They are lovely plants - take years to get nice and tall so definitely get advice before hacking it!

Have an outdoor one as well and looks great!

Spoke to someone who stated that there are cane arch type things than you stick in the pots. These arches get pushed into the soil and tied at the top to make a full circle and support the plant when the foliage gets thick and heavy.... I shall be getting some.
