Hello all,

I'm helping out a friend whose laptop has died. Windows won't boot so I am reinstalling from scratch. He doesn't have any of the original CDs or documents. I've used a Linux live CD to recover the product keys for Windows and Office 2007.

The problem is that I can't tell what version of office 2007 it is from the output of the enchanted keyfinder. See output below:

2007 Microsoft Office system
Product Part No.: 123-12345
Installed from 'Full Packaged Product' media.
Product ID: [ID Removed] match to CD Key data
CD Key: [Key removed]
Release: RTM
Release Type: Retail/OEM

Does anyone know how to find out what this is so that I can download and reinstall?

Hi nightmare -

Thanks for the reply. But unfortunately produkey is giving me the same output as enchanted keyfinder:

"2007 Microsoft Office System".

Anyone know what I can do with that?

Does this tell you what you need to know?

I think it would do except I'm not sure how I'd get to the registry to find the GUID because the PC won't boot.

Also I've been pretty foolish and I've already blown it away so I think the registry entries are all gone now.

All I have is a backup of the C:\Windows\System32\config folder.

I am afraid that it might be a trial and error situation. :(

you might be able use the "load hive" feature in regedit and browse for a file? it might well be in that folder but i can't really remember.

i'm on a pc which blocks regedit and access to the C drive so i can't look right now. :p

I have a copy of Standard, Pro Plus, Home & Student and also Enterprise if you'd trust me to try your key? Wouldn't need to activate it, Just pop it in the installer.

Offer is there.

I'll give it a go. Thanks!

That's very kind. I don't have the key with me at work. I'll have a go with the regedit and post back if I have no luck.

Cheers.

Right I've got it working! I was able to load hive in regedit and point it at the software file inside my config folder.

This loaded up the registry entries and then I was able to use CaptainCrash's link to identify the version from the GUIDs. It turns out it was Office 2007 Hybrid... whatever the hell that is.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone!

If it's any help I just came across the exact same problem and found a list of download links here including one for Professional Hybrid (which apparently is a generic installation media which installs the appropriate version according to key).

I'm 90% sure the Home/Student version can expand into the other versions with the correct key.

I've definitely used my Home/Student disk to install a different version before (can't remember if it was standard or pro-plus).

Might be why yours is saying Hybrid?
