Hi all,

Ive just gone to get adsl setup at the new house, decided to go with Aquiss.

I entered my new telephone number and got the fololowing message:

Below are details of your line results tested against BT systems. This shows what speeds and which services are likely to be received.

Result: Your line should be able to support MAX speeds of 6.5 Mbps or above

Line: ADSL is activated on this line.
Exchange Name: MARKET DRAYTON (Enabled)
Exchange Code: WNMD
Telephone Number: 01630******

Migration::

It would appear that this line already has broadband enabled or our tests were inconclusive, as such please provide your MAC Key below in order to transfer the broadband service without any downtime.

Now i have no idea what this means, can anyone explain this?

And how would i go about getting the MAC key?

Thanks

Perhaps the previous occupants have not got their account cancelled/moved.

Call your proposed isp or bt and get it checked out more fully.

would i be able to call the previous tennants ISP to get the MAC key or would i need them to do it?

We are still in touch with them as they have only moved about a mile away and we take them their post.

Yes they will have to do it. Normal procedure would be for their ISP to cease the service on their request and then once the cease has gone though you can apply. Either that or the old house owner needs to move it to their new address.

So, i get the old tennants to phone their old ISP, get the MAC key and give it to me.

I then use the MAC key to tranfer to Aquiss and use my own details for billing.

Bloody pain in the backside but if i get the connection sorted faster i suppose its worth it.

thanks :D
