Idiot Postman... What should i do?

My brother usually asks the postman to put the post in his back garden if he's not in so that it's not left in view. One postman did just that, only to be more specific, place it in the latrine and proceed to do a **** on it.

The bloke is incompetent at even doing the most simple of tasks, who the **** would leave a parcel in the bin? Really?! Out of the most stupid places to leave a package that has to be 1 of the worst. There's a big difference in making a mistake (Our parcel man once left some packages outside on someones wall down the road) which you can understand why they happened and putting something deliberately in the bin. So I would tell the guy like others have suggested, either pay for the dress now or I'd report him, and if he refused he loses his job. I'd then give him extremely stern words that if he ever did it again he would be reported without fail straight to Royal Mail and his chances of keeping his job are pretty much none.

Just report it as normal, firstly, why not, you're out a dress... Is this the first item he's left in a bin? He could have done it to many people before and who knows he could do it again. Such incompetency should not be tolerated. I mean come on, people make mistakes, but putting post in the ****ing bin!? Not fit to deliver post.

Report him straight away, i've dealth with posties like these and they really dont give a toss. This guy sounds like a lazy get who obviously doesnt value his job and takes it out on your/our mail!

Report him, claim for the cost of the dress, oh and dude, if the dress is really for you that's fine, no need to say its for 'the missus' :P

We had a postman who regularly left our parcels in the recycling bin.
I often get asked to instruct drivers to leave goods without a signature, and I'd say the second or third most popular option people give is "in the recycling bin" so I don't find it particularly staggering that this is what this postman has done.

With that said, I would expect a note or calling card on the same day advising me the goods were in the recycling bin.

Agree with the posts about he has to make it up or get fired. He shouldn't get away with being an idiot. Seriously... who puts mail in a bin? He was just too lazy to redeliver.

Putting parcels in the recycling seems to be standard by all postal services except the royal mail. With the royal mail I get carded to go and pick up the parcel at my mums:) Thats the great thing about living in a village the posties let the rules slide a little.

YES!! Tell them because i had a parcel, which fortunately was delivered across the road, but anyway, when ringing the delivery company they said they leave things in peoples bins. This made me be beyond angry because it just makes no sense to why you would do that. I was nearly in tears thinking i'd bought clothing which could be toss so unreassuringly into my dustbin! It still makes me mad to this day!

In fact ebay have on thursday sent something i ordered to my old address. It is currently at a sorting office where i am unable to get too as it's my OLD ADDRESS ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRH Stupidity!!

Postman delivered my phone to wrong address, actually got angry at me down the phone telling me it was at the post office. Went there and it wasn't. Went back to royal mail, complained. He finally found the phone (recorded delivery), as someone down our street signed for it. Address wasn't incorrect. never saw him as our postman again, may have been fired, tough luck. Douche shouldn't have A) lied, and B) got arsey, arsy? w/e, C) delivered incorrectly.

Had A and B not happened, I wouldn't have complained.

I don't know why you are all saying the postman or Asos have to pay for a replacement. The item was delivered, Royal Mail as an employer is vicariously liable for their employees so it's RM who has to pay for the dress. Not Asos, not the postman.
