Idiot Postman... What should i do?

christ...

What an idiot lol. Just imagine for a second the post man has put your new graphics card in the bin and it has been taken away.

I dont think the guilt card would quite work for me.

A nuke from orbit would be in order for that. Then maybe burn his remaining molecules with fire.

Nobody will be getting the sack for something like this. Admittedly the guy didn't follow procedure but calling for someone to get sacked is completely OTT and typical of some of the users on this forum.

I would bet you dont offer to resign everytime you make a mistake in work.

You sir, have actually got it completely wrong. You are simply stereotyping the users of this forum. Read the OP again. The postman himself is pleading, saying that he'll get the sack. The members of this forum were in fact instructing the OP to report it. They weren't specifically calling for his head. If the postman himself is correct, then a consequence of reporting him would be his getting fired.

They're not calling for him to be fired, they're calling for the op to report him :)

It's not so much the cost of the dress ( She paid more than 100 for it, i think... ) its more the principal. she spent so much time had looking online for the "perfect" dress etc and now she has to have a mad rush in search of a new one.
Yes she has loads of things to wear but you know how women are, It has to be new!

If it was over £100 then whomever she bought it from should have insured it approapriatley.

Max you will get from RM on standard mail is £41 if there is proof of postage.

If it was sent fully insured then it should also have required a signature, did the clown Posty sign for it then dump it in your bin?

That's in the event of an accident or an unpredictable event. The postman already admitted fault and failed to comply with company guidelines (writting a card). RM is responsible for it's employees actions when exercising their duties.

what are the guidelines if he runs out of cards however ?

as that would explain why he then wrote on an envelope.

exactly

we've touched on this before.

Greater insurance = greater cost.

Its a game the mail order companies play and constantly monitor to ensure they pay the least ammount. If it pays to use the extra insurance, they will. Usually however the % of parcels lost vs those that get delivered usually means it doesnt pay to use the extra insurance so its the mail order companies choice to loose money in the event of a lost parcel.

I used to work for a mail order company in their carier management team. we caught couriers forging signatures, putting parcels in the bin and not leaving a note, delivering to the wrong house etc.. etc.. They all just got bunged on the monthly claim sheet with the rest of the stuff. The company will have loads of these types of **** ups each month.

Lol, that's not the customers or the suppliers problem. Start carrieing a pack of envelopes in the glove department. I bet that was a BS excuse he made on the spot.

I saw the thread title and thought it might be about me. Sadly I'm disappointed again. :D

People do actually request leaving stuff in bins, but it's not something I'd do on whim. It's asking for trouble.

As for the pleading part, tough. You should report him. If he's a serial offender then management might actually do something useful for once, and show him the door. If it's a first time offence, they'll do what they normally do. Sweet FA.

*gently knocks on door*
*waits 20 seconds*

- YOU DUMBASS, WHY AREN'T YOU HOME WHEN YOU EXPECTING A DELIVERY.
*rage dumps parcel inside the bin*

LOL

Ah, you've been monitoring my technique. My language is usually more colourful though.

I'd say report him. All the postmen are doing those things now. I had some expensive Fly tying bits and bobs left in the recycling bin. I was lucky I noticed the writing on the back of the card or else they would be gone!

Kinda funny how people with easy jobs are so eager to throw them away. I'd say as a punishment they should be shoved in a bar/shop/call centre/supermarket for a week.

are you calling being a postman an easy job ?

i have done all the jobs you mention and postman was by FAR the worst

partly because of the ridiculous sized rounds with silly deadlines and terrible management and partly because of the snotty public who constantly stopped me for a moan about literally everything even when its got nothing to do with me.
