Hi, I've got a AMD XFX 7950 and three monitors - but only two want to work at any one time...

All three work, but it only lets me have two on at a time - I can choose which two in the software... but it wont let me do three

I've just read that I need an "active" Displayport to HDMI adapter... but might have been fine with the passive displayport to DVI adapter I had in my hand at the shop that's now shut...

I am less than pleased.

Is there any form of work around I can do?

If you wanna run a third monitor you need to use one of the mini display ports if I remember right. You should be able to pick up a adapter to HDMI or DVI.

Think I have a spare one knocking about you can have if you are anywhere near the PR3 area

I'm in the RH12 area so not quite.

I got a Displayport to HDMI adapter but it wont do more than two monitors no matter what I do.

I've been reading across the infer-webs that DisplayPort to HDMI needs to be an "Active" adapter (though of course the adapters in PC world didn't say, and it being a bank holiday where else would be open?).

I *think* displayport to DVI needs to be active too... though there are certified ones on the AMD page that are listed as passive...

But apparently Displayport to VGA doesn't.
