i don't wanna sound like an idiot here if im wrong but if i was to buy a DX10 Card will i have to upgrade to vista in the future to get all of the drivers etc for the DX10 cards?

Thanks Ryan

A DX10 card will work fine in XP, but you won't get any of the DX10 features unless you upgrade to Vista and are playing a game that actually makes use of them.

What do you mean DX10 Card Features?...Im pretty slow

Basically the new stuff that DX10 has to offer.

Basically, the card wont run certain things so it will look a bit worse (perhaps perform a bit different) on DX9 to DX10. In theory DX10 stuff should look a lot nicer, mostly because of the way its wrote, to enable developers more access to the functions of the card.

Many here are buying the X1950 as a "temp" solution untill DX10 is more established with more cards out, and vista on the shelves.... I am considering that option to, or just buying an 8800 GTS.

yeah i have a msi 7900GTO so if i can get thats old for a nice sum then i was thinking of buying the leadtek 8800GTS.

exactly what i might do, get a 1950pro until more DX10 cards come out.

why what does dx10 have to offer?

afaik not much, other than speeded up processes and help removing CPU overhead...

its mainly about thw way the shaders etc are configured to take advantage of of DX10 which makes a gfx card dx10...

it doesnt mean WOW suddenly eveything will look different under DX10. its not that much of a step tbh/

removing cpu overhead is a rather huge deal imo.

Right now, there is not much we know of apart from as above, improved visuals, more logical and easier to program.

well you would have thought they would have already tried that with DX8, DX9 etc... to say your bringing out a new APi with the above should imediately send alarm bells ringing, why werent they trying to achieve this with previous releases...

they probably were, so where did they fail, and how will they make it work that much better now, than they did for say, DX9 which was also heralded as a big release when it came out...

from what ive seen, your looking at a 10-20% speed increase at most.

That's what I'm doing!
