Idiot speaker cable question.

If I was to buy 5 metres of bog standard white/red speaker cable from a local shop, would I be able to cut said cable to whatever length I needed? Like say make 2 cables from it, one 3m another 2m?

Yup, just strip both lengths back a little to make the connection
