Mouse, keyboard and monitor? Case?
SSD and small HDD rather than big hdd.
Not much need for a DVD player these days.
Surely Windows 10!
Andi.

As I've said I'm totaly clueless. Son's picked windows 8......whats the difference and why no need for dvd. He has mouse, keyboard and monitor. ......he has a computer but it's not good enough, and he's checked but he cant modify it.

only requires a dvd if he uses disks(some people assume everyone downloads now), i actually forgot to included one, but if he already has a computer with the little things like that then he can reuse.

what computer has he got out of curiosity?

I have no idea why he has used a single RAM stick when a 2x4GB RAM kit can be had for less and provides better bandwidth.

The EVGA PSU is worse.

Lol, he's 13 and its his first attempt, probably been on you tube too much, getting wrong advice, which is why I'm asking here for help. ( and boy do i need it)

Fixupsellon are these ones better than the components he chose.

depends how much those parta you chose cost, but going from stulids comment you chose a better psu lol.

1 stick of ram is good, but obviously if a dual kit is not much more than thats the ideal choise.

i chose a gaming board for my first mock up..

Son's came in at 630.
I'm still none the wiser.

Come on lads, post our Sue a nice spec! One of the Pros will post a list shortly I am sure.

Had a look at his original spec, understand he is 13 and it is great that he is willing to have a go at building - does he have someone to help him?

Had a look at his spec (original), few pointers for him to consider:

Does he really need a bluray drive? A DVD rewriter is much cheaper
8GB is a good idea
Look for long warranties on PC stuff
And I would not bother with WINDOWS 8 you are best getting the latest, Windows 10

Hope that helps. Fingers cross someone will post a basket for Sue very shortly.

It helps if you post what you actually need:
A case
motherboard
memory
CPU & cooler
GFX card
Hard drive
SSD
PSU
Optical drive (DVD) or bluray

Mouse
Keyboard

A monitor
Operating system

Finally, this is good, JUMP to 25mins (for Sons & Mums) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw3mcaWihBI

A handsome beast our Scott, but he teaches you how to build a PC. There are tons of things on here too. Great that his Mum is helping him, respect :p
