Hey :)

On Friday I moved to the dark side and got an iPhone 4 however I'm getting a little frustrated by how things work in iOS having spent 2+ years on Android. As an example I wanted to delete an email and podcast, nowhere on the interface was there a "delete" button, nor did holding down your finger on the item you want deleted. It took me ~15mins to search for the answer (it was nowhere to be found in the tiny manual that came with the phone, nor was it on Apple's help pages) which by the way, is swipe from right to left over the item you want deleted.

Anyway, enough of my mini-rant :p

Is there a guide out there which tells you the basics of iOS? I fear I'm missing a whole lot due to the lack of documentation!

Thanks :)

Craig

Yep that swipe to delete thing took me a while to figure out also, google knew in the end! :p

Apart from that, it's very easy to use... My top tip would be to Double tap the home button to see the programs that are running, long press then to get them to shake, once they are shaking, tap the [x] to close them. :)

Pressing the Home and Sleep buttons together will save a screenshot to your photo roll. There isn't much to learn on iOS, it pretty much comes to you fluidly very fast.

I've always found it to be very intuitive. However, just download the official iPhone user manual from iBook store and it should give you a ref point for most things.

Or, nip down to smiths and pick up one of the many iPhone magazines.

Another tip: If you're typing a URL into safari, holding the '.com' button lets you choose, .net, .co.uk etc etc :)

Also shaking (tilting side to side) the damn device like you would a teenager triggers the Undo dialogue box :p

Another tip is tap the status bar in safari to scroll to the top, quite handy on long pages
This is one thing I didn't know till a few months ago though I have used iOS for a few years now.

Things like double click shift to go into caps lock etc, all good to know. There's apps (atleast for the iPad, with iOS 'secrets' in)
