How do :)

Out of interest, how many people find iDisk usable? every few months I give it another try but am yet to find it usable...

I just set about 400 meg to transfer to it and it said about 40 hours remaining and slowly started transferring... 5 minutes later it threw up and error and stopped :(

Is it just me?

I use it to backup what I also keep on the Time Capsule (belt and braces)

Just not from the OS X Finder as it's not great when transferring large chunks, so I use Panic Transmit :)

by using panic transmit is that a more file friendly way of interracting with the service (more directly with the WebDAV service) or is the way the transmit program does copying just more reliable?

asking cuz I could use forklift which is my ftp weapon of choice :)

what i've done as an experiment, is selected to keep a hard copy of the idisk, which i will work directly from for a while to test the idea... that way everything i'm doing is automatically backed up to to the tinterweb...

the only thing that could hold it back it the speed of the sync, but we'll see - at least right now i can work away and not have any delay then the internet side of things is in the background...

fingers crossed... anyone else work like this?

It means that I don't have to mount the iDisk on OS X, and generally the transfers seem to be rock solid vs. the flaky disconnects I was getting with larger transfers direct from the Finder.

oh ok understood, does transmit have a dedicated WebDAV facility then?

also, i was wondering, does anyone know why some of the folders in the idisk look like aliased folders (small arrows on the icon) whereas some dont? - just curious really...

I've got several droplets that were created in Panic Transmit.

I drag a file to my "pictures" droplet and it'll auto-upload to the relevant folder. I believe dropbox takes that 1 step further but I've already paid for Panic so nerrrr
