So just bought from Overclockers

OcUK Gaming Mach 2 - Ryzen 7500F RTX 5060 Ti Pre-Built Gaming PC

Question: Is 46% idle CPU temp normal for this build.

Have you checked task manager to see what's using the 46% while idle?

Something in the background is doing something. It could be Windows updates or if its got RGB controller etc it could be the software for that.

I assume it came with Winnows pre installed?

Is the stock cooler really that bad? My 7800x3d under a Thermalright Frozen Vision 360mm is currently ranging from 22-28°C. I know a 360mm AIO is much better but it was cooled by a Thermalright Peerless Assassin before that and still got nowhere near that at idle and was only in the low 60's while gaming. I guess the stock cooler is quite loud as well then or have they traded off temps for less noise?

I would have thought that the idle temp would give some indication of the load temps? It's a new machine so not stressed tested it yet. But happy with the temps so far. ( I have Riva Tuner with MSI Afterburner showing the CPU/GPU temps and framerate and just hitting below 80 on some taxing games)

Probably worth changing CPU cooler, stock coolers are generally passable, depends if it's the one with heatpipes or just solid block.

Issue of warranty if you change things warranty is void.

Thermelright is good value peerless assassin or assassinevo

It's not noisy, in fact pretty quiet. Just a bit concerned at the idle temp. Is it worth upgrading to some cooling system?
What kind of PC do you come from? Ryzen CPUs often idle at those kind of temps, there's nothing to worry about, especially with the stock cooler. They're designed to run on the limiter (under 95c).

Temps are always bad on am5 due to the really thick ihs amd stuck on them to maintain cooler compatibility with am4.
Maybe but Intel and AMD have both moved to running their silicon at the ragged edge of performance to compete with each other.

Gone are the days of getting 1ghz+ more clock speed from overclocking with low idle temps.

Both AMD and Intel set their load operating temp at 85 degrees (IIRC).
