Idle freeze?

So anyone experienced this. If I leave the PC on the desktop, after ~ 20 minutes or so the desktop "freezes" in possition. Moving the mouse brings everything back to life but its almost as if the graphics cards shut down or similar (power saving?) and just display the last thing on screen.

Its somewhat annoying, any ideas to stop it?
 
Ok interesting update, whats on the screen carries on moving (eg watching cpu temps).

However when it happens (identified by some coil noise) the cpu temps start to rise, and quite quickly aswell?
 
So I think the problem may have been WinSAT. As I was watching the temps and they started to rise as this process ended up using a lot of cpu time. I let it runs its thing and then it finished and everything went back to normal.
