idle GPU on open test bench

I'm just wondering, some reviewers have an open test bench and others have a test setup inside a case.

Is there much temp difference between the open test bench and no airflow vs inside a case?

The reason being some crazy semi-passive future build depends on your answers :)

This is only the idle temps though, load temps the fan will be running so won't be a problem.

thanks

Depends on the case used but an open air bench means everything will have access to clean cool air, while a case the cool air will generally only come in from a certain direction and may be under/over pressured depending on the fan setup.
