Hey,

Just got my new mobo, PK5-Premium, whacked in a q6600 with the heatsink that you get with it and im getting idle temps of 56!

Is this normal? I am going to get a different cooler soon (i.e this week) but was worried about these temps anyway.

Also I have a huge range of temp across the cores, core 0 normally has the highest ( I think that is normal tho) and currently that is at 56, while core 3 is at 45! Is that normal??

p.s what is a good thermalpaste to get?

Thanks for any advice

Not sure, my temps on my E6400 idle at 52 and raise to as high as 59 under load. - that's using an artic cooling free pro 7 cooler.

It really depends on a lot of things, case air flow, thermal paste, temperature of the room...

But definitely if you can, get a better cpu cooler.

I would make sure that all 4 legs of the cooler have been inserted correctly.

Good point, might not be cooling a quarter of the cpu. Will have a look now.

My air flow is pretty good i think Have a ton of fans in my massive thermaltake kandalf case. Im only using a stock cooler and paste but getting a new one this week. Just thought i would be running a bit cooler than this.

Oh yeah, room temp isn't that high, but its not the artic in here.
