idle temp?

just wondering what the 'normal' idle temp i should roughly expect from i5 750 with just stock cooler, in a cm-690 (3fans all running).

Tbh, theres no such thing as an average idle temp, a few factors come into play. Ambient room temp, case airflow, cooling etc. This will mean that everyones idles will be different. Load temps are the ones youll need to keep an eye on. Out of interest, what are your current idle/load temps?

round about 40c, room is cool and airflow seems ok

40c at idle is ok, the stock cooler isnt really that great. If you do intend to overclock, its best to invest in something a bit better.

ah right cheers. another quick question, is there any program(s) you can download to monitor internal temps without having to go directly into bios, i had a look in thread at the top but didnt know which if any of those would do

Core temp or real temp.

General overall temps I also use HW monitor.

Coretemp will see you right for temp monitoring.
