Hi all

Am hoping someone can help me here as I think my PC is having issues!

Both IE8 and Firefox have stopped working, when I try to launch either of them I get a message saying:

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

Not sure what caused this, possibly a result of me downloading some stuff, nothing I thought was dodgy, happened while I was looking for programs to record video from my screen (VM Capture and Camware or something like that)

I've run a full scan with AVG but it didn't pick anything up, anyone got any ideas what I can do?

Cheers
Dan

PS Chrome is still working and how I've got on here :D

I didn't get the crack, I was just looking

Still having problems, Windows now just keeps rebooting itself (running Vista business)

I get an error message coming up saying Windows "encounted a critical problem and will restart"

I just managed to log into a different user account on the PC to run a system restore, this hasn't helped.

I am seeing a file called rstrui.exe running in c:\windows\system32 which seems to be running on the task manager on both user accounts, anyone know if this is wrong or what it does. I think it gave the the error message saying c:\windows\system32\rstrui.exe - the remote procedure call failed

ok so I established that rstrui.exe is associated to the system restore function.

I am thinking this didn't work, just got the PC stable again but got a message saying the system restore didn't work with details saying an unspecified error occurred during the system restore!

Gee they don't give you much of a clue as to what's gone wrong do they. Anyone know why the restore didn't work?
