IE Favourites

My MB has gone kapput and I have to buy a new machine. Alas I have failed to make BU's.
The HD is OK to salvage data and would like to know if there is a file in Windows or Program Files from the old HD which would give me my Favourites from IE. Thanks.
Also would OE have a file with old emails on. Cheers again.

On vista, IE favourites are stored stored in "C:\Users\Asim\Favorites".

For XP it's "C:\Documents and Settings\Asim\Favorites" IIRC.

Thanks for that Asim. Is that file transferrable to my new machine?
Is there a similar one for my OE emails and contacts?

Yes it will be transferable.

Search for *.dbx in system and hidden folders and you will come across all your OE files, your contacts should be in a .wab file.

On your new machine, setup OE first, then exit, search for *.dbx again and copy your backup over, and do the same for the .wab
