IE opens with small panes

Plaese can you tell me why and how to change the following.
When I open IE from main desktop icon I get a full page> But when I open IE from a dektop shortcut it opens in a small pane and I have to mouse click it to full page. How to remedy this would be appreciated,thanks.
 
have you tried right clicking on the desktop icon, >> properties .. where it says RUN (near the bottom) use the drop down box and choose 'maximised' ???

That "run" option only appears on desktop shortcuts for programmes and is not present for desktop shortcuts for web pages. It is the latter that is giving me the problem

but isnt I.E a program ? are you saying you have some htm/html pages on your desktop and youre double clicking them --which then opens I.E to view them - but I.E isnt maximized ?

also, why would you have 2 shortcuts to I.E on your desktop ?
