IE problems / upgrade win 8.1 help

Hi i got a Dell Inspiron 3847
Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center X64bit
i5 4660 3.2G
8GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT 705

Right here is my issue, i was using Internet Explorer with about 3 or 4 tabs open and when i checked the Task Manager it stated that iexplorer.exe is using 846MB of RAM, the app started to go slow and hanging for a few seconds here and there.

If i upgrade my RAM from 8GB to 16GB will this sort that issue out?
I am also using Ready Boost with an 8GB USB flash drive.
 
Sounds that you got a problem somewhere. No way would a Browser use that much Ram.
Download Firefox (100% better than IE) and see what that is using.
 
increasing the amount of ram will not sort out the issue of how much ram IE is using unless you are using nearly all the 8GB.

how long is the PC\laptop left on with the tabs left open?

my work PC is left on all week with the same web pages open (4 or so tabs) and they can use about the same amount of ram.

what web sites do you have open? as this will vary on how much IE will use.
 
I would run malware bytes just incase you have something lerking. I've known chrome to use and cause memory leaks bue never IE from my experience. also check your msconfig to see if you have anything in startup running
 
The issue here is that you're using internet explorer, there's a reason there's a running joke about it being slow and poorly optimised.

My suggestion would either be Chrome or Firefox, chrome has HTML5 support so is less dependant on Flash player (Which can be a pain at times).

Firefox is user friendly and efficient, but sadly doesn't have 64 bit support like Chrome does (Yet?)

load of crap, typical response when anyone mentions IE
have used it for years and I have never seen is being slower when I tested it against chrome & FF on my pc.
chrome drives me up the wall making me use it how google want me to not how I want it and people moan about IE
at least it does what I want when I want and how I want
