IE site problem

I am trying to bodge together a portfolio site for myself. I have got so far and all seemed to be going well. That was until I tested it in IE. Up till then I had been using firefox and it all looked right.

If you look at it in FF:

Then in IE you can see IE adds a big gap at the top, it wrecks the side recent work picture. It also doesnt support png transparency which is a real kick in the teeth for my design.

Any ideas what I have done wrong here?

Ok, theres a cell/line where you get that gap, if you remove it, it won't be there ;).

The PNG issue, is only a problem in IE 5.5/6 so will be fixed in 7+, so unless you really want to change it, don't bother. If you do, this will be usefull (I think) http://koivi.com/ie-png-transparency/

The recent work problem, seems to be related to spacing, the right side of the border is being hidden by the side of the cell.
