IE update?

Wonders if there has been a forced "Bing Search" update to IE?

Certainly yesterday on my "new tab" page , along with my most popular websites was a Google search bar/page - which has now changed to Bing (which I detest).

Certainly no toolbar or add-in doing this - just wonders if the Windows updates which I installed last night have done this?

Click the drop down arrow after the magnifying glass and choose "add" at the bottom right. You can then add Google and remove Bing (or make Google default)

The only magnifying glass I have is actually at the end of the search bar (with no drop down arrow at all)

The lowest item in the bottom right is hide/show sites (and that is only 1/2 way down)

The only drop down arrow is on the "Re open Closed tabs"

Mine looks like this:

Clicking the arrow gives you an option to add Google as your search engine.

EDIT: Just saw you were talking about your new tab page changing, just go to Internet Options > Tabs > change the new tab page to whatever you want, mine is set to open Google.co.uk.

Ahh there, I will check when Im home (I thought the drop down was on the page itself rather than the address bar:))

Hoping you were right first off as my new tab page should be able to have a google search bar along with my most used previous websites (which of course I wouldnt get if I just set it to google in the IE options)

Thanks

edit - your first suggestion got rid of bing right enough (and added Google) but the search bar itself has now completely disappeared that was there before when W8.1 was first installed.

While the search functionality in the address bar is ok, it can sometimes be annoying (like typing out an actual website address, it goes to google rather than the site typed lol)
