I suspect that a study carried out by the DM would be more meaningful than this. I think this is best described as twaddle.

I suspect it's also something to do with geekiness levels... Which is why Opera users have a higher IQ than FF and Chrome...

I assume it's also inversely proportional to the number of friend you have, and whether you have a GF...

Nice way of putting it tbh!

I use IE. Purely becasue I much prefer the layout, and it is kept up to date. FF however is a PITA. I only use it when checking web layouts, or one or 2 sites which do not work correctly on IE. (Royal Mail OBA site crashes IE).

The study concludes that “individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers.” It’s only logical that users with a higher IQ are more likely to experiment, choose a different software version or variant (notice that users of IE with Chrome frame score very high on IQ tests) or listen to upgrade suggestions and security advice.

By this logic then surely IE9 would be skewed towards the higher IQ end?

IE9 with TPL is as good as anything out there IMHO.

Plus, if you're using Microsofts web-based programs such as Sharepoint, you have to use IE.

I'd suggest the person with the low IQ is the person who wrote that awful article.

As far as I can see there's no stats giving a breakdown of the numbers of users for each of the browers (I could be wrong). Without a proper breakdown as far as I can see the "stats" could have been generated by 3 particularly "bright" Opera users and 1 average giving that particular browser a much "higher" average IQ score. I can't help but notice the report uses the word "assume" a lot. I think the final paragraph from the "study" illustrates just how independant it was:

It is common knowledge, that Internet Explorer Versions to 6.0 to 8.0 are highly incompatible with modern web standards. In order to make websites work properly on these browsers, web developers have to spend a lot of unnecessary effort. This results in an extra financial strain on web projects, and has over the last decade cost millions of man-hours to IT companies. Now that we have a statistical pattern on the continuous usage of incompatible browsers, better steps can be taken to eradicate this nuisance.
