On my work station, I have some sort of spyware/virus on my internet explorer. The systems admin people have said they have tried absolutely everything to sort this. They've used virus scanners, ad-aware, hijackthis, etc to try and detect and remove any dodgey files. They said that there's nothing more they can do, but I'm not convinced....

Could any of you out there offer some help or advice on what I can/should do?

Cheers

He did say that they'd have to "rebuild" my pc, maybe he was referring to a fresh install, but I'm sure there must be an alternative to that...?

Try other spyware, AV packages and hope that that picks up the offending malware? Failing that if you can figure out which form of malware is causing the problems locate a removal tool or manual removal instructions. TBH a rebuild/fresh install is probably the best way forward, if nothing else it will also remove all the accumilated junk making your PC faster. I'd suggest that when you do sort this problem out that you get a realtime malware scanner, such as adware etc, and even better consider using an alternative browser such as firefox, and just use IE on sites that wont work properly in firefox and sites that you trust.

It's strange as I only ever use IE for our intranet and use Firefox as my default browser. I think I'll ask them to reinstall everything and start from scratch.

Thanks for your advice
