IE6 misbehaving

Hello there, i have recently have been investigating a problem on my parents laptop, its nearly brand new, Win xp sp2 latest updates etc etc.

But, if you were to open internet explorer, type an address in the address bar, and hit enter or click go, the windows icon in the top right spins and nothing happens, it wont browse to that page.

If i cllick a weblink in a program or in an email it opens fine into explorer but it doesnt like browsing to sites typed into the address bar. It also works fine with the latest Firefox browser.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may cause this?

Very peculiar indeed? Maybe reinstalling IE may solve this problem, just a shot in the dark and assuming you have not tried this already.

Aha ok will do thanks.

I was also a bit unsure if the google toolbar (removed now) could have affected it.
