IE7 Beta Fonts Issue

Just installed IE7 Beta. Fonts displayed in the web browser appear bold and rather fuzzy looking.

When I copy and paste the fonts into Word they look fine.

Another test - Outlook is set to HTML. I composed a new message which looked fine as I typed it then sent it to myself.

When reading the received message the fonts, once again - appear bold and fuzzy.

Anyone else get this? Or better still no how to fix it :)

It's called ClearType. It's meant to make the font more readable - it smooths them using subpixels in an LCD monitor and makes them look more natural. I like it, anyway. Some people appear to prefer the jagged edges they had before though.

T'is on by default in IE7. You could turn it off by going to the Advanced part of Internet Options and scrolling down to Multimedia. Uncheck 'Use ClearType'.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm surprised MS has made this deault tbh. I've switched it off and personally think text looks better without it. I'm guessing it's a form of AA.

Text looks fuzzy when switched on plus it effects the size of text making some web pages look awkward.

Perhaps that's because I'm browing on a laptop @ 1024x768 at the moment. Will try native 1280x1024 on my TFT later this evening.

Just need to check out Smart Image Dithering next.
