IE7 Installation Issue (seriously lost on this)

Am trying to install IE7 on a Windows MCE based laptop, but each time I run windows update IE7 fails.

The error code is: 0x50

I have checked everywhere I can think of and disabled everything on the laptop before installing.

I have seen and followed the tips on this site: http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/archive/2006/10/18/182724.aspx

but none of them seem to help in my situation.

Is it just IE7 in the updates? have you tried a standalone installation of IE7? and is the OS legit and activated?

Has the laptop had extra RAM added in the spare slot?

Can sometimes cause this error

If yes try removing and advise.
