As I said in the title, it freezes randomly and i can;t seem to figure out what causes it. It just seems to stop and sometimes displays "Not Responding" in the title bar. I use Task Manger to end the process and the memory usage for it is always excessively high. I just went to IGn Wii to view a screenshot of a game and when i clicked the thumbnail it froze so I restrted the browser, tried again and it did the same thing. It seems so random to when it happens but it seems to do it with the same thing each time I try it. Any ideas. I am using Vista Ultimate 64 but it also happened on Vista Home Premium 32. I really am coming to the end of my tether with this and would really appreciate some assistance with this if possible.

Thanks

Neil

might be worth looking at stuff running in the background.

i had a few random lockups on my new acer laptop. now i've stopped the acer empower software running at startup i've had no lockups at all.

The screen below shows all running processes. Anything that might be causing it?

Have you tried running IE in safe-mode? Does the problem still persist?

If the problem is only affecting Internet Explorer, its more likely to be an issue with a rogue Browser Helper Object (BHO) within IE from a program you've recently installed, that is either incorrectly installed, or is not supported by IE7 or Vista.

You can either try to find the offending BHO manually; by disabling and enabling individual browser add-ons one by one (tools, manage add-ons, enable or disable add-ons) or you could use something such as ProcMon and anaylse the process to discover what was causing the application hang.

Hope this helps.
