Currently when trying to install IE7 on this machine, the setup fails to install, I found this was due to a registry permission problem. I applied all permissions to each registry entry needed for the installation process but to no avail.

Each time I attempt to install it, the result is "Internet Explorer 7 setup failed, please restart your computer and follow the troubleshooting instructions icon placed on your desktop"

Do you think Vista would also pose a problem, as this is slipstreamed with IE7, does the Vista installation edit permissions itself, as in, could it modify the required things to install (even though I have tried)?

IE7 comes in working of the bat, and I have found it fantastic. I always used firefox and this will no longer be the case

I just had the same problem.

Was at a mate's house, turned out Symantec had managed to stop all access to the Internet through any means, so got rid, and everything worked. Took off IE7 cos it wasn't loading properly, and downloaded the install program from Microsoft. But I am getting the same error when trying to re-install the program, despite trying everything in the MS shortcut placed on the desktop.

Left her with Firefox running OK, so she can get online, but she wants IE7 back, so I told her I'd see what I could find out - i.e. ask on here.

Anyone got any ideas? She's running XP, about a year old PC, anything else just ask.
