IE8 Beta?

I have just had a new machine built. The engineer has put IE8 on as an upgrade I assume because it appears in the add/ remove programs.
The version says 8.0.6001.18702, is that a beta or a full release.
I have to say that it takes a long time to launch and some web pages are also slow. I cannot compare with IE7 as I said it is a new machine.
Is IE8 know to have issues ie. launch speed. Are people reverting back to IE7 and if so would that be easy enough to do. Cheers.

That's the released version not the beta.

I read a post on another site that said that IE8 cannot deal with (or takes ages to) all the restricted sites that are created if you use Spybot and Spyware blaster. Appaarently 10,000 are created.
Any ideas if this could be the problem.
