IE8 keeps making an annoying clicking noise randomly. Is there a way I can disable noises in IE8? Its driving me mad.

Thanks, Ross

Yeh, sometimes it happens when im just looking at a web page. It keeps clicking. Its a slightly different noise to the forward and back noise I think.

ditch IE

install firefox
install adblock plus -open this link in firefox

restart firefox
click the 'Easylist subscription'

will block all adverts and crap from all pages, and keeps itself up to date.

doesn't answer your question, but rids yourself from the cancer that is IE.

and firefox doesn't make a clicking noise when moving on pages :p

Uh, no, it isn't.

I would suggest your "random" clicking is an advert frame or something on the page you are looking at refreshing, which would click. Just turn sounds off in the IE advanced options if you are adamant on staying with it.

takes about 4 times as long to start up for me or longer. Once started I dont really notice a difference apart form javascript which is slower in IE.

IE is much slower when in use though.

i notice most when using 2x browser windows with multiple tabs on each (for work)

just leave FF open

surely no adverts (therefore browsing speed) is more important that browser opening speed?

If quick startup is important to you, use Google Chrome. Starts as quickly as IE and much, much better.

Otherwise, just start Firefox once when you start your PC and leave it open. The other benefits far outweigh the startup time.

And if privacy is important to you you could grab Iron.
