IE8 is loading slow FF is fast

ok whats happened to my machine! Windows 7 pro, IE8 browsing is crawling along but when i load firefox that loads up pages as fast as you would expect them to.

Ive done the virus checks and its all clear, deleted all the temp files, cookies etc but its just loading pages soooooooooo slowly. And i prefer to use IE8 tbh, im just used to it.

Anyone got any ideas other than just use FF? Theres something thats on here that needs cleaning off surely.

Try running ie8 with no addons

Click start>All programs>accessories>system tools>ie8 no addons

I'd check the proxy settings.

Isn't firefox supposed to load pages much faster anyway?

Not noticeably. Maybe half a second here or there if that but not to the extent the OP is suggesting.

IE8 64bit is amazingly fast i think
