IE8 issues resolved?

I imagine I'm gonna get told by plenty of people to use Firefox having asked this but I don't mind IE and never have.

That said, when I upgraded to IE8 a month or two ago if was very slow. It took up ~5 seconds to even start having hit the icon, and opening new tabs was equally sluggish.

Has this been sorted now? I reverted to IE7 which has been fine but figured I should have IE8 really if it works ok.

I also had the same problem with IE8 when it first came out, so went back to IE7 (as you did), but recently upgraded my Kaspersky Internet Security to the 2010 version and then installed IE8 again and so no more slow starts now.

its fine here after i turned off spybot search and destroy

The problem was caused by the immunisation feature in software such as spybot search and destroy and spyware blaster, Microsoft fixed this later in an IE update, so you should be fine as long as you install IE8 then run windows update.
