i am the only user on this laptop, and i sometimes leave my laptop running for downloads/virus scans and whatnot when im not around, and my friends seem to find to hilarious to leave a certain meat spinning website running for my return. Any way i can block it short of locking my door (which i leave unlocked for other reasons)?

parental controls dont work when theres only the one account. elaborate on this hosts file thing. Not really upto speed on stuff like this.

And i do have a password, its just locking it generally pauses whatever is running and kills the wifi, making it rather pointless for me...

well something is wrong there. locking your pc should have no effect whatsoever on running programs. unless by lock you mean you've been putting it to sleep which is another thing entirely.....

A quick and simple bodge job would be to stick an entry in the hosts file pointing the website to 127.0.0.1. Just an alternative method :)

There are hundreds of these websites ;)

When they see it doesn't work they'll quickly find another. :p

We used to do this all the time at college. Anyone who left the class would get it :D
