IEEE 1394 Firewire PCI card

Got the above card and the PC can see it installed in device manager with correct XP driver. However, when I plug a DV Camcorder in, I hear the usual sound of a connection but the PC does not recognise the device or see it connected. ( Windows Movie Maker )
One strange thing that happened once is after a while, the device was finally recognised but the onboard sound card was then turned off ?

When I unplugged the device, the sound came back ???

This has only happened once though ?? I am confused with this.

Try the Unibrain firewire drivers and download the latest version. I am using them under Windows 7 and they are far better than the generic Windows drivers.

try using the legacy driver.

By the sound of it I can only assume a resource conflict somewhere. If possible try moving the card to another slot or switching it with another card currently in there.
